Individual Composting Facility Permit


This authorization applies to a person choosing to operate a Tier 1 or Tier 2 composting facility in the State of Maryland under the provisions of this general permit. Composting regulations provides that a permit (General or Individual) is required for a composting facility that uses greater than 5000 ft2 area in support of composting operation. The general permit contains conditions and parameters applicable to the composting operations that process all acceptable organic materials under the regulations. The Department may exclude a particular facility from coverage under the general permit and require the applicant to submit a separate application for an individual composting facility permit.
